Top Things to See After Moving in to Your New Apartment | Sexton Companies Apartment Homes - Downtown Indianapolis

Last updated 3 months ago

Welcome to Indianapolis!  Now that you’ve organized your apartment and met the neighbors, it’s time to explore your new city.  Indianapolis has a unique mix of history and modern culture, not to mention some beautiful scenery.

If you need ideas for places to visit to get to know Indianapolis, here are some suggestions.

  • White River State Park: As the nation’s only urban state park, White River State Park is a one-of-a-kind experience.  It features beautiful open spaces, including miles of trails for running and walking, a 6000-square foot garden, and the beautiful Historic Military Park.  But this unique park also has an IMAX Theater, the Indianapolis Zoo, and the Indiana State Museum.
  • Monument Circle: Named for the Soldiers and Sailors monument that stands at its center, this downtown hub is a combination of old and new Indianapolis.  It includes Christ Church Cathedral, built in 1857, home to The Choir of Men and Boys.  The Lacy Building and Circle Tower, both built around 1930, are beautiful examples of architecture and design in Monument Circle.  In the same area, you’ll also find many newer shops and restaurants.
  • Connor Prairie Interactive History Park: If you’re looking for a glimpse into the city’s past, Connor Prairie is the place for you.  It features five historically accurate hands-on exhibits from throughout Indianapolis’s history, from the Native Americans who lived in the area to a Civil War camp.
  • Eiteljorg Museum: This unique museum holds both Native American art and art about the American West.  Featuring art and preserved objects from Native American tribes like the Miami, Delaware, and Potawatomi, this museum is named for its founder, Harrison Eiteljorg.  The Eiteljorg Museum is also home to works by Georgia O’Keeffe, Frederic Remington, and Andy Warhol.

This is only the beginning of all the great places to see in Indianapolis!  When you’re ready to head home at night after seeing the city, your comfortable, spacious apartment in a Sexton Companies community will be waiting for you.  Call us at (317) 660-8240 to start the leasing process.
